Photographer and videographer based in Asheville, NC.

Maddy Alewine (formerly Jones) fell in love with photojournalism while studying international relations at Syracuse University. After graduating with degrees in both subjects in 2013, she started her professional career as a community photojournalist at daily newspapers in North and South Carolina.

Telling stories about the rich history and diversity of rural communities in the Carolinas has been her greatest privilege and honor.

After five years of working full-time in newspapers, Maddy now tells visual stories for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. She also freelances for a variety of commercial and editorial clients and runs a food blog Them Bites with her husband.

Maddy is currently available for freelance assignments.
